November Chapter Luncheon

Disciplined Agile: Why DA? Why Now? Why Me?

In a major move from its old way of doing things, the Project Management Institute (PMI) has introduced a new philosophy of doing projects and working within your organization. There are four new certifications, a replacement for the Registered Educational Providers groups who conducted certification training in the past, and a new look and knowledge base influence for the PMBOK® Guide due out in January, as well as accompanying ramifications for the PMP® Certification Exam.

But more importantly, the unusual and stressful times we are facing in business right now can perhaps be aided by this  new approach named Disciplined Agile. In this quick hour we’ll look at what Disciplined Agile entails; why it is important that you become knowledgeable in this way of working at today’s point in time; and how this can be exceptionally helpful to you, personally, as we all try to secure our positions for the future.

Find out what will change at PMI, what will change in your world, and how you can use these changes to your personal advantage. After the presentation we will have a Question and Answer session so you can leave with a clear picture of this new opportunity in project management.

Barbee Davis, the owner and a trainer for Davis Consulting, has many years of experience in training organizations around the world about  better and more profitable ways to do business. She specializes in making sure teams are self-directed, flexible to respond to the needs of the marketplace and the business, and are focused on bringing value to their customers and the organization who has invested in them.

A PMP® (Project Management Professional), PMI-ACP® (Project Management Institute Agile Certified Practitioner), and a PMI-BA® (Project Management Institute Business Analyst), she has proven her skill in managing projects. Add in her DASM (/Disciplined Agile Scrum Master), DASSM (Disciplined Agile Senior Scrum Master), CDAC (Certified Disciplined Agile Coach), and CDAI (Certified Disciplined Agile Instructor) qualifications and she can lead most any type of class that would be useful to your organization in helping you improve your processes and your profit.

In addition to Disciplined Agile, Barbee is active in helping businesses find better ways to get useful changes accepted into practice, despite a natural resistance to change that we all may initially feel. She is clever in helping the most experienced and skilled personnel start at the beginning and understand this new PMI tradition of Disciplined Agile while feeling they are adding to their own knowledge and marketability through the process.

Look for her books on Amazon, perhaps the most relevant being, “Agile Practices for Waterfall Projects”. To talk with Barbee about classes, speaking engagements…or just to get a clearer picture of why Disciplined Agile can be such a transformative experience for your organization, contact her at:
