 Topic: Project Management Education at UT-Chattanooga

Description: Engineering Management & Technology Department in the College of Engineering and Computer Science (CECS) at the University of Tennessee at Chattanooga (UTC) offers Project Management related courses both at the undergraduate and graduate levels as well as certificates.

Growing interest in team work, scheduling, cost, Project Management tools and techniques is important to prepare our students for real world experiences. Therefore; the Engineering Management & Technology Department at UTC is dedicated to teach materials and software, like MS Project and Primavera for our students, so they can be real world ready and get their PMP certifications without much preparation.

The purpose of this presentation is to show the unique resources and offerings in CECS at UTC for Chattanooga and the surrounding area in terms of Project Management types of jobs, which need to be shared and introduced to local businesses, so they can understand the outstanding preparation of our students.

Guest Speaker: Dr. Neslihan Alp, P.E

Dr Alp UTC

Dr. Neslihan Alp is a Professor and Department Head of the Engineering Management & Technology Department and Associate Dean of the College of Engineering and Computer Science (CECS) at the University of Tennessee at Chattanooga (UTC). She has a Ph.D. in Engineering Management from the University of Missouri-Rolla (Missouri University of Science &; Technology) (1996), a master’s degree in Industrial Engineering, and a bachelor’s degree in Engineering Management from Istanbul Technical University, Turkey. 

Her teaching and research interests and expertise are in the areas of project management, quality control, facilities management, optimization, lean systems, manufacturing processes, and distance education. Dr. Alp is a member of the American Society for Engineering Management (ASEM), Project Management Institute (PMI), and Society of Women Engineers (SWE). She strongly advocates for female and other minority students in the STEM field. She is also a Professional Engineer (P.E.) in the state of Tennessee.
