Welcome to the Chattanooga PMI Chapter
We provide support to our members through Training, Conferences, Chapter Meetings, Networking, and Community Volunteer Work.
April 2012 Message From the President
An exciting new year for the Chattanooga PMI is well underway. The Board has been working since the October Open Board meeting. We have completed the Operating Plan for 2012 and our Strategic Plan for the next few years. We began as a group, then one on one to communicate each other’s needs and the goals for the Chapter. It’s already begun as an exciting year for me as your new president!
2012 is beginning with a full Board - thanks to the membership that stepped up to bring the Chapter some excellent talent and committed folks to fill these positions. We’re still working to complete our Director positions. To volunteer not only provides a great opportunity to serve our Chapter but it opens up a chance to better network within the Community of project managers. It also provides experience to better yourself and the community. As a past Chapter VP of Publicity I was also given the opportunity to work in an area that was out of my every day professional comfort zone. And don’t forget that this volunteer activity doesn’t go personally unrewarded. It will give you hours toward renewing that PMP or hours of PM experience if you haven’t obtained that PMP.
But if your time doesn’t allow you to serve in a position then don’t forget to just be a member and avail yourself all of those opportunities to participate. Every month the Chapter provides a program. During these meetings you will hear and see professional speakers and learn more about project management. And those monthly sessions gives you a great opportunity to network. There is always a time set aside to find out what’s going on with other PMs and businesses in our area. And if you are interested in presenting your own project or project management efforts, we’d love to see what you have and give you the opportunity to speak at a program. Talk to anyone on the board.
