2020 President’s Message
Update: July 2020
As 2020 continues to challenge the world, the Chattanooga PMI chapter is here to support its members.
While many of us have not experienced any lapse in our work schedules during the COVID-19 pandemic, some of our peers have not been so fortunate. With that in mind, I would like to encourage our members to reach out, collaborate, network, and help one another in this time of need. If you are seeking a job, please feel free to contact me, and I will happily put you in touch with local recruiting agents who work with the Chattanooga PMI Chapter.
As always, we want to retain and support our members, so if the cost of membership has become a burden, please write in and let us know. We have worked with PMI Global to achieve financial assistance for first time members and are actively working with them to help our existing members. In addition to financial assistance, we’ve collaborated with PMI Global to develop and promote FREE Professional Development Materials and FREE PDUs. Keep your certifications active, sharpen your skills, or develop new ones at no additional cost.
Thank you for visiting our Chattanooga PMI website. Whether you are new to Project Management, a long time practitioner, or just want to gain the skills needed to work with a project, we welcome all levels of participation in our community and events.
In 2020, we are on track for another record year of membership as the profession continues to grow. Thanks to the leadership of our board and support of our members, we have grown to over 400 members—a 33% increase in just the last two years! Just like our chapter, the industry is growing at an amazing rate with certifications and specialties that go far beyond the already valuable PMP certification. Chattanooga has been featured on Forbes list of Growing Job Markets, and with that our profession and skills are in growing demand! If you are interested in knowing more about the Chattanooga Chapter, our Sponsors & Partners are here to help.
I invite you join us for Networking Opportunities such as Axe Throwing, Coffee Roasting, PDUs in a Pint, Ice Cream Socials, Luncheons, and Taco Tuesdays. Meet practitioners and leaders from our amazing hosts and local businesses such as Velo Coffee Roasters, Local Paletas, Clumpy’s Ice Cream, and Rock City just to name a few. Meet local leaders who serve on our Board such as past Presidents Deborah and Colby or other key members of our board in their VP and Director roles from Publicity and Social Media to Finance and Membership.
If your interest is in getting Professional Development Units please consider the following offerings:
Volunteering for Chapter Events such as helping us identify our 2020 PM of the Year, Project of the Year, or one of our open Board Positions.
Or attend our 1st Regional Professional Development Event where you can get 15 hours of PDUs while networking with your Region 14 (AL, GA, TN, SC, FL and peers and learning from nationally recognized speakers and teachers. This event will be broadcast live and will be on demand for PMI Chapters members after the event ends.
We look forward to meeting you at an upcoming virtual event. Please feel free join and say hello to me and your peers as we navigate the challenges of 2020 together!
